Routine Examination of Stool

This virtual practical simulates the routine laboratory examination of a stool specimen, including physical examination, selected chemical tests, direct microscopy, concentration examination, and appropriate pathogen investigation.

The practical uses randomized simulated specimens. The physical appearance, microscopy findings and final laboratory interpretation may therefore change when the practical is restarted.

Important laboratory branching: when a parasite is confirmed, the practical proceeds to parasitology reporting and does not enter the bacteriology confirmation pathway. When a bacterial pathogen is confirmed, the practical proceeds to bacteriology reporting and does not enter the parasitology confirmation pathway.

Routine Stool Examination

Step 1 / 1
Preparing randomized stool specimen...
Follow the physical movement of the specimen and laboratory equipment. Correct actions will perform the next laboratory operation.
